External Relations, Policy and Donor Relations

Ilona Dorji joined the GICHD in October 2025 as Grant Manager, where she supports fundraising, donor relations, grant management, and donor compliance. In this role, she manages funding proposals and donor reporting and works closely with program, policy, finance, and operational teams to ensure alignment between project delivery and donor requirements.

Prior to joining the GICHD, Ilona worked across the humanitarian, development, and international cooperation sectors for over 20 years. Most recently, she served as Country Director for Caritas in South Sudan. She has also held senior positions with UNICEF, The Global Fund, the European Union, and UNHCR. Throughout her career, she has managed large donor portfolios, led monitoring and evaluation processes, coordinated humanitarian operations, and supported fundraising and compliance efforts across Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Ilona Dorji holds a Master of Social Sciences from the University of Turku in Finland and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Organisations Management from the University of Geneva.
