Ammunition management advisory team

Jovana Carapic joined the GICHD in June 2019. As Programme Manager within the newly-formed Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT), she implements AMAT's four-year strategy by coordinating activities and developing partnerships with donor governments, national authorities and relevant international and regional organisations. Moreover, she provides programmatic and policy advice and technical support on ammunition management as requested by States.

Prior to joining AMAT, Jovana was a researcher at the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey. She worked on various projects within the field of weapons and ammunition management, with a focus on South-east Europe.

She has authored several publications on ammunition life-cycle management, unplanned explosions at munitions sites, as well as training and capacity building in physical security and stockpile management.

Jovana holds a PhD in political science from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Her dissertation unpacked the state–armed group relationship with a focus on armed group dynamics in East-Timor, Nepal and Serbia. Fieldwork has taken her to Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
