Radwa Rabie

Standards and Operations

Radwa Rabie works currently as the Programme Manager for the Standards Program. She has joined the GICHD in February 2019, initially as the Advisor for Capacity Development for National Mine Action Standards (NMAS) and Compliance. In her current role, she oversees the Standards Program’s activities aiming at enhancing the development and outreach of the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), and supporting national authorities and stakeholders in developing their National Mine Action Standards (NMAS) in alignment with IMAS and the sector’s best practices. As a member of the Standards and Operations Division, Radwa collaborates with other divisions within the GICHD to ensure that Land Release, Risk Management, Quality Management, and other aspects of IMAS are well integrated within national programs.

Prior to joining GICHD, Radwa implemented and headed Mine Action and Armed Violence Reduction Programs in Libya, Tunisia and Afghanistan with DRC-DDG (2013-2018), and in the Middle East with MAG (2018). Previously she also worked for the UN-Habitat, CRS and CARE for their programs in Egypt and the MENA region (2003-2012) and her portfolio focused on Protection and Humanitarian Response, Capacity Building, and Strategic Planning.

Radwa holds a joint MA degree in Sociology from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and Kwazulu Natal (South Africa) and a BSc. in Political Science and Economics from Cairo University (Egypt). She holds an EOD-2 qualification.
