Research, Innovation, Standards and Operations (RISO)
Stanislav (Stan) Damjanovic joined the GICHD in 2017. He currently leads the Standards and Operations programme, focusing on enhancing the operational efficiency and effectiveness of Mine Action operations, and contributing to the development of international and national Mine Action standards. Since joining the organisation, he has been providing expert advice to national authorities, the United Nations, NGOs, and other stakeholders. In his current role, Stan ensures that projects align with the organisation's strategic priorities, represents the GICHD externally, contributes to research and development, and facilitates specialised training courses to enhance the skills of Mine Action professionals.
Prior to joining the GICHD, Stan spent over ten years with The HALO Trust, overseeing operations and programmes across multiple countries, including Somalia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, the Central African Republic, Türkiye, and Jordan (Syria response). He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Belgrade and an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex. Stan is an ISO 31000-certified Risk Manager and is IMAS EOD Level 3 qualified.
